Alagils-Umax
Nestor x Broadmeadows Jiji

Umax was born in the first flush from Jiji.  He was Black Isle Show 2004 Champion and Perth Bull Sales Champion October 2004 selling for 9000gns to Malcolm Allan.

Umax was always a smart, showy bull and was correct in every way and was easy fleshing with good plates. He has proved to be an exceptional female breeder in both the pedigree and commercial herds and is currently being used sparingly on the pedigree herd as he is closely related to a lot of the females. We intend to use him again in years to come to give us good framed milky cows.

Loosebeare Bigboy – Tomschoice Usurper x Loosebeare Pussy

Affectionately known as ‘Boysey,’ he was bought primarily for commercial use and as a chaser for the pedigree herd because of his pedigree and figures. He has left some good females in both the pedigree and commercial herds. We have also sold sons of his privately up to £5500.

Scorboro Regius - Scorboro Olympian x Scorboro Lace

Regius was an exceptionally big, natural bull with high growth (2.2kg/day at Lim test) and has an outstanding pedigree. He was also a winner of the M&S Beefbreeder competition.

We crossed him with Broadmeadows Jiji to produce Alagils Ainsi, Arise, Anastasia and Alta Rica. All these females are breeding very well in the herd today.

Bapton Javelin – Haltcliffe Gladiator x Bapton Greta

Javelin was widely used in the commercial herd with great success over the last 15 years, leaving some exceptional breeding females.

Ronick Hawk – Broadmeadows Cannon x Ronick Esther

Hawk was used principally as an easy calving bull for heifers.  He has left some good breeding females in both the pedigree and commercial herd.

Bedell Maurice – Hamecon x Gertrude

Maurice was used great success in the commercials and proved himself as a correct, long bull, who has left exceptional, breeding females with plenty of milk.

Carthorpe Bruno – Bedell Maurice x Rokeby Rebecca

Bruno was the principal bull in the commercial herd. His progeny have good production figures, which have reflected in strong trade for store cattle achieved over the years.

Tehix – Mas du Clos x Lilas

Used sparingly on the pedigree herd producing bulls:

Alagils Flockhart (Tehix x Alagils Arise) sold for 5000gns May 2011 Carlisle at 15 months old.

Alagils GT (Tehix x Alagils Ainsi) sold for 7000gns May Carlisle 2012 at 14 months old to Messrs Logan Homebyres.

Millgate Caesar – Ballyline Udolf x Hollybank Angel

Millgate Caesar is one of our favourites.  He has a superb pedigree and show history being overall champion at the All Ireland Bull Derby in 2008 and following through with champion at Carlisle February 2009 selling for 18,000gns.

His pedigree and figures matched our breeding objectives.

He is the sire of Alagils Gershwin (sold for 12,000gns), Grammaticas (stock bull), Gatsby (sold privately), Gillie and Gemma, both of which have been retained.

Vagabond – Neuf x Niche

Selected for impressive conformation, mobility, carcase quality and figures, his pedigree goes without saying.

Despite widespread use we have yet to get a pedigree female, but we have retained a bull (Alagils Humberston x Alagils Bella) as our junior stock bull.

Wilodge Enrico – Sympa x Wilodge Vavanelle

A bull with a modern pedigree and excellent figures. Females retained in the herd include Alagils Hayley and Alagils Halfpenny, while bulls have sold to 5,000gns Alagils Hankybannister May Carlisle 2014. The herd has now been joined by Alagils Jinny.
